The third Isabel Marant store in Hong Kong opened on the 18th of May, where the laidback, charming designer spoke with us about her work ethic and what inspires her to create better collections every season. Located on Ice House Street in Central, the shop is designed with French sensibilities, keeping everything natural and spacious (or as spacious as you can get in Hong Kong anyway). We love her mix of tomboy basic pieces and fun casual dresses, but you should stop by the shop, check out the collection and decide for yourself.

Interview with Isabel Marant:
Since it’s so important to bring certain soul into creation, to bring something that’s a part of me, it’s something that I try to offer. And for me, as I was saying, it’s very important that I’m involved in everything that I’m creating and that’s why I still have a small team because I need to be behind everything that I’m creating.
Now the world is totally crowded with fashion images. It’s almost disgusting to me in a way. Being part of this industry, I’m asking myself a lot of questions like what is going to make a difference, why are people going to go to my collections rather than other collections. Like Victoria Beckham for example, she buys a lot from my collections, and for me she’s not an Isabel Marant girl at all. But in a way she is also, and it pleases me a lot. Like Bernadette Chirac, our ex-wife of the President, she loves my blouse. She says, “Oh, I love your blouse”, and that’s very sweet to me.”
